3H KAYAK TOUR ON LAKE CASTELGANDOLFO

WHAT WILL YOU DO :

The kayak is a type of narrow and elongated vessel, originally used by the Inuit, an indigenous population of the Arctic regions. These early kayaks were built with a wooden or bone frame covered with animal skins, such as seal skins.

Today, kayaks are made of various modern materials, such as plastic, fiberglass, Kevlar, and carbon.

Kayaking offers a fantastic opportunity to explore new environments, get exercise and enjoy time outdoors.

Anyone aged 6 years and older can participate

DURATION: 3h

TRIP DETAILS

The tour always starts with a lesson on shore paddling technique, our guides are also kayak instructors.

During the paddle, participants will be immersed in the deepest peace of the lake, one of a kind, an expression of flora and fauna just a few minutes from Rome.

The guide will tell you the history of the lake of Castel Gandolfo and will show you some unique historical points, such as the submerged stilt houses of the Villaggio dei Mulini, the ports of the Roman villas and in particular that of the villa of the Emperor Domitian, where the Romans loved to observe the atrocious spectacle of naval battles (naumachia), the houses of some hermits and the Popes' diving board, where the ancient popes loved to dive off their summer residence located in the village above the lake.

In the warmer periods, from March to the end of October there will also be a relaxing break where we will dock at a beach that can only be reached by kayak and where we will swim and dive into the pristine waters of the lake.

Throughout the tour the instructors will give you continuous lessons on paddling technique, and at the end of your experience you will know how to kayak discreetly.
